Tape Ministries
Tape Ministries provides Christian and inspirational recorded books free by mail to the blind and handicapped all over the United States and Canada. Tape Ministries originated from a need perceived by John Knox members over 20 years ago and has steadily grown over the years with much support from John Knox and our members. The tape library has about 1200 books that have been read/recorded by volunteers. The staff of four part-time employees includes two John Knox members, Shirley Farris and Kim Abrott, and the large group of volunteers that makes the operation possible also includes many John Knox members. Last year 14,710 copies were circulated, with about 25% of the available copies out at any one time. Other churches in the area have also faithfully supported the Ministry, which is currently housed in a facility provided by Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 840 S 192nd Street. Stop by and check out the facility sometime (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM weekdays), or call 206.243.7377 to enquire how you can get involved in this ministry or how recorded books can be sent to blind or disabled people you know. There are many tasks that volunteers regularly do to make the Ministry possible. Roger Neubauer is a John Knox Mission Ambassador for Tape Ministries.
